Only a person with Joe’s perspective can see the need for rapid innovation at the Port. We want a Port that is responsive to citizens, and responsive to other governments within the County. The Port will recognize, and act upon economic development opportunities, and will also see the need and develop additional community amenities as only it can. Joe has the vision and initiative necessary to shorten the time from idea creation to idea fruition.
The Port is entrusted by the public with some very valuable acreage on the waterfront. I am committed to enhancing the public’s access to the waterfront, through dog parks, food trucks located at the Point, trails, and kayak access to the water. On the Tumwater properties, we encourage small businesses that cater to leisure activities: parks for little leaguers, a golf course, and an indoor trampoline center to name a few.
